“Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light” Screens

Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics announced that they were working on “Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light”, a downloadable adventure that, interestingly enough, has left the name “Tomb Raider” behind.  Well, curious fans, here is a first look at the new game. (Courtesy of Kotaku)

Like what you see?  According to Gamespot, the game will have both single player and co-op modes.  In co-op, a second player controls Totec, that guy chucking spears in the second screen.  Based on the screens, it seems like much of the puzzle solving in the game will revolve around using teamwork to trigger switches and so on.  The other major difference between this game and the “Tomb Raider” series is the camera.  The entire Tomb Raider series had the camera set directly behind the player; these screens use a wide-set overhead camera style.

Well now that you have a better idea of what’s in store, what do you think?  Can the “Guardian of Light” return Lara Croft to her former place as one of gaming’s biggest stars?
