Capcom announced via press release on Tuesday that they are finally producing a new “Marvel vs. Capcom” game. (No,”Tatsunoko vs. Capcom” doesn’t count!) “Marvel vs Capcom 3: The Fate of Two Worlds” is a long time coming: “Marvel vs. Capcom 2” was first realized ten years ago. According to release, MvC3 will go gold some time next spring.
While Capcom didn’t “say” anything else about game content, they did show off a bit by way of a debut trailer, which gives rabid MvC fans a little insight into what can be expected. There are two important things to take away from the trailer: First off is the look; if the preview is even slightly indicative of the actual game then Marvel vs Capcom 3’s artistic style will closely resemble Street Fighter IV’s faux cel-shaded look. Second, and more importantly, shows the first six characters duking out one-on-one: Five of the characters are Marvel vs. Capcom vets that most fans would assume to be in the game; Morrigan, Ryu, Wolverene, Iron Man and Hulk. There is one surprise addition on the Capcom side, and, beleieve me, they make sure to milk it in the preview. I won’t spoil it if you haven’t watched the preview, but it is definitely a pick that will get MvC fans excited.
Between this, Gears of War 3 and Killzone 3 (fingers crossed), I am just counting the days until next April.
