Did you like seeing how to make a portable N64? Well, if you thought that was cool, then you will be blown away by this. Chinese Modder XCKDIY also felt the need to bring his old-school gaming on the go, but he wanted something a little more stylish…
So he built his into a boombox!
Though XCKDIY hasn’t handed out his instructions on how to re-create his masterpiece, it looks like he pretty much hollowed the stereo. All we can see is that he’s put in a small screen where the tape deck should be, with controller ports below it.
Don’t believe the Dreamcast Boombox is real? XCKDIY thought you might be skeptical, so he made a video of the machine in action.
What could be better than playing Super Mario Bros on NES? Playing through Super Mario Bros as Mega Man! Exploding Rabbit has made the best flash game ever. In “Super Mario Bros. Crossover”, retro game fans can play through the original Super Mario Bros using iconic NES characters; the roster includes Link, Samus, Mega Man, Simon Belmont OR Bill from Contra. (Also Mario, but who wants to do that?)
At first glance, the idea might not seem that inventive. Right now, you’re probably saying; “Changing appearances? That’s not so great.” Well, in Super Mario Bros Crossover, each character has their own abilities – Mega Man can shoot and Slide, Simon Belmont can use a whip and throw axes, and so on. In other words, playing through as each character is a unique experience.
It’s awesome. Go play it.
How much do you love N64? Do you get sad whenever you have to leave your house without it? Well modder Bacteria felt your pain, and he spent four whole months devoted to fixing the problem. Until…
The portable N64 looks like one of those crappy Tiger handheld games, but it plays N64 Games! It has a five inch screen, speakers and a built-in rumble pack. One downside – it needs two camcorder batteries for three hours of juice.
As far as I know, Bacteria has no plans to sell these things, but he posted a series of videos showing you how to make your own. All you need is a PSone screen, an N64, a rumble pack, a memory card, an N64 controller and a PSone controller… and some other stuff… (making that case might be a little tough)
Still, it’s an awesome device. If you have a spare N64 lying around, or if you REALLY want to play Star Fox and Smash Bros on the bus, it seems like an epic and worthwhile undertaking. (Thanks, Gizmodo)
Whats better than Starcraft II? A Starcraft racing game! Everdraed, a Starcraft II beta participant, built a map and organized a race, complete with “sweet-ass go karts”.
