Splatterhouse Set to Rise From the Grave on Halloween

It’s going to be a gory Halloween.  Namco Bandai announced that their re-make of the Genesis action game “Splatterhouse” will drop on the spooky holiday…  Ok, well they weren’t specific as to whether the game would be in stores on the 31st (a sunday), or the Tuesday before, which is the 26th.  Namco told Gamespot that the game “just missed” their goal of third quarter release, but has been lined up for a Halloween drop – it’s not clear whether Halloween is being used as a reference point, or a hard date.

The point is, this year gamers can plan on playing a brand-new horror-themed game while eating all of the candy they should be giving to little kids.

UbiSoft Confirms Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood

After a Gamestop Employee/Kotaku reader leaked an image of the retailer pre-order box art, Ubi Soft confirmed the existence of the next game in the “Assassin’s Creed” series.  “Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood” continues the story of “Assassin’s Creed II” protagonist Ezio Auditore De Firenze, rather than the primary storyline.  Ubisoft revealed that such a game was being developed after rumors that a third direct sequel was already in the works, based on information in Ubisoft’s annual financial report.

According to the box art, “Brotherhood” focuses leading a group of assassins, rather than working solo.  Case in point, the box refers to a “never-before-seen” multiplayer component.  which had also been hinted in the annual financial report.  On that note, the box implies that fans who pre-order the game at Gamespot will get a special multiplayer character, if that kind of thing float your boat.

After confirming the authenticity of the box art image, Ubisoft said that they will be releasing more information some time next week.

Enslaved Screens

“Enslaved” – the newest project from the Ninja Theory, the team brought PS3 fans “Heavenly Sword” – is a post-apocalyptic re-telling of the classic Chinese story, “Monkey”.  Based on what producer Namco says, the game plays like “Ico” meets “God of War” – an ambitious goal, to be sure.  Then again, based on these screens, this is definitely going to be a game to watch.
